We Have A Church App—Here’s How to Get Started
Some Background
As a church plant, we have used a hodgepodge of tools and technology to organize our volunteers, events, calendar, and more. It’s been an affordable path for us, but it hasn’t always been the most convenient for everyone else.
Recently, we realized we have access to a consolidated church app, directory, calendar, and more for free with the tool we’ve been using to schedule our volunteers.
We have built out the free version of this app, as you’ll see below, but the nice thing about it is it can grow alongside us. As we grow, we will be able to add additional tools like event registration, child check-in, and more.
About the App
Our hope is the Church Center App by Planning Center will serve as an organizational hub and a simple way for you stay connected to the life of the church throughout the week.
We’ve structured our app home page to link out to some of the most important pages for our community (sermons, Harbor Groups, reading lists, FAQs, and more), and the bottom navigation will give you quick access to things like the calendar, directory, giving, and your volunteer schedule.
Our connect card and volunteer signup forms are also available in the app.
Installing the App
To install the app, simply click this link to download the Church Center app from your favorite app store. If you already have the app on your phone, you can simply do a search to find our church.
Setting Up Your Profile & Directory Listing
To set up your profile and directory listing, follow these steps:
Log in and click the profile circle in the top right corner.
Click "My profile & settings."
Click "Contact & profile information" to add your photo and contact information. Please note, this information will be passed along to our church database (Planning Center).
Click "Directory profile" to update what you want to share in the directory.
Directory Security
The church directory is not public. Only regular attendees and members are able to view it. If you need assistance with this, please talk with Fr. Casey.
Church Center offers an added layer of security we've turned on to protect your email address. Others won't be able to see your email address until you've replied to their attempt to contact you. They will only be able to see your photo and a button they can click to send you a message.
Please note: If you do choose to list your address in the directory, it will be visible to everyone who has access.
Designating Your Preferred App
If you’re a regular volunteer at Harbor, you may also want to make this app your preferred app for notifications. Here’s how to do that:
Navigate back to the profile circle in the top right corner.
Click “My profile & settings.”
Under the “Settings” heading, click “Notifications.”
Click “Team and schedule.”
Make sure “Church Center” is checked as your preferred app.
