Introducing the Parish Council Nominees

On November 3, the following Parish Council nominees will be put before the congregation as a slate to be voted on. Each of these individuals is…

  1. faithfully present in worship, an active member of Harbor Anglican, and confirmed in the ACNA

  2. a strong financial giver to Harbor Anglican

  3. recognized among the body as a servant-leader, having wisdom and maturity

  4. someone whose confession and life affirms, upholds, and is willing to live by the Parish Council Subscription

Each of these individuals has humbly and prayerfully taken time to discern this particular call on their life, and it is with joy we present this slate to you.

Raquel Bolender

Raquel has been married to Josh for 20 years, and they have two wonderful daughters, Skye (15) and Agatha (13). Raquel was born in Nicaragua and came to the United States as a baby. She was raised in southern California and was indoctrinated to believe she could only root for the Dodgers and Lakers. She has, however, fully converted to being a true brokenhearted Seattle Mariners fan. She became a Christian in adolescence, and her faith formation took place in the Plymouth Brethren tradition, where she developed a deep appreciation for traditional hymns and the weekly eucharist. It was not until 2021 that she was introduced to the beauty of Anglicanism, and shortly thereafter, in 2022, she was confirmed into the tradition. She often says the conversion from the Plymouth Brethren to Anglicanism is like transitioning from black and white to technicolor. She works in child and adolescent psychiatry, and in her spare time, enjoys spending time with Josh and the girls.

Sophie Hamby

I've been married to my husband, Andrew, for three years and we share our 6-month old son Alden. We live in White Center with our dog, Bean, and have lived in the Seattle area for two years. We moved to Seattle on a whim, fell in love with the city, and quickly realized we are called to live here for a while! We're both originally from Maryland but lived in Arlington, VA after getting married. I work in tech and, for fun, I love hiking, eating good food (usually made by Andrew), and visiting/being visited by family. I was raised in the Presbyterian church (PCA) and have loved learning more about Anglicanism over the past two years at Harbor!

Scott Barnes

I’m a native Washingtonian, living most of my life in the suburban areas of South Seattle. I’ve been actively involved in church my whole life and was at the same non-denominational church for 55 years before moving to St. Ambrose (now Harbor Anglican) in 2019 (about seven months after the parish was founded). My wife, Teresa, and I have been married over 31 years, and we have two daughters (26 and 24). I’ve been a Business Systems Analyst for nearly my whole professional career. I’ve always been a Seahawks fan, and three years ago, I discovered I like NFL Fantasy Football. I also enjoy the whole lifecycle of trees and wood: planting, growing, cutting, and burning. As for my personality, I am a split between introvert and extrovert—I’m naturally much more of a logical/thinking type, but lately I have been trying to understand and cultivate the emotional/feeling side of myself. I’ve been trying to lean in much more strongly to Jesus’ second greatest commandment to love others—that is one way my relationship with Jesus is displayed in my life. Another is the sense of peace that I have even in tumultuous times.
