Discipling Our

Children

HARBOR KIDS

Collect Prayer

Almighty God, heavenly Father, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children: Give us calm strength and patient wisdom to train them, that they may love all that is true, and pure and lovely, and of good report, following the example of their savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

LITTLE DISCIPLES

Children & Worship

We love seeing kids in gathered worship and active in the service. Hearing their noises and seeing them struggle keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously. We believe Jesus was onto something when he said, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” From the beginning, God has not only called individuals to himself, but whole families, and this means when God calls mom and dad to worship, he is also calling their children to join with them.

We also take the call to walk with parents in their child’s discipleship seriously, recognizing “it takes a church to raise a Christian.” At Harbor, we provide space for younger children during worship, where they are invited to learn the Scriptures and engage in activities from our trained teachers. Not only is this environment nurturing, caring, and loving, but we also strive to make it safe. All of our teachers have undergone a thorough background check and training and adhere to established protocols to provide safe and proper care to our children.

  • On the first and last Sundays of each month, we offer children’s worship training during the readings, sermon, creed, and prayers of the people. The rector dismisses the children with a prayer, and they are led by teachers to the designated children’s room right off the sanctuary. Children will be led through a small liturgy that includes songs, prayers, and a short lesson; altogether, this portion is about 35-40 minutes of the service.

  • On the other Sundays, we only provide a children's ministry cart with craft activities and books in the designated children’s room. We will also provide a monitor that streams the service's audio for parents who will be with their children. Please note that each child will need to be supervised by one of their parents during the weeks we do not have scheduled teachers.

  • The church office is available for nursing moms to use. It is a cozy room to the left of the sanctuary with plenty of seating.

CHILD SAFETY

Safe Church Policy

The Diocese of the Rocky Mountains has put together a policy for a safe church and the protection of children that we have adopted in our parish. You can view the policy as well as our volunteer agreement by clicking the links below.
