SAFEGUARDING
Harbor Safeguarding
In a world where the vulnerable continue to be exploited, the Church must take action in safeguarding the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of every person in its care. As a community, Harbor Anglican Church is committed to protecting the vulnerable, caring for survivors of abuse, and holding abusers accountable. Our commitments come from God, who is a refuge for the abused and never ignores their cry (Psalm 9:9, 12). Our community seeks to embody God’s priority of justice for the vulnerable that comes with his Kingdom.
Protecting Our Children
Harbor Anglican Church values children and desires to reflect God’s love to those in our care. We take very seriously our call to provide an environment where we can bring our children to the Savior and allow them to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Not only does this environment need to be nurturing, caring, and loving, it also needs to be safe. This policy includes information about screening, training, interacting, monitoring, and responding with care.
Report Misconduct
Harbor Anglican Church stands against any and all forms of abuse which can take a variety of forms such as emotional, financial, psychological, physical, sexual, and spiritual. Anyone who observes or experiences any kind of wrongdoing at Harbor can and should report it. Our safeguarding team will prioritize communication and care to all parties involved.
Training
We want every Harbor program for children or youth to provide a safe, inviting environment where learning and spiritual enrichment can occur. When an effective safety system is put in place, staff members and volunteers can focus on their core purpose, trusting precautions have been taken to prevent abuse and protect children in their care. Harbor requires all staff and volunteers to go through Ministry Safe training.
